Arctic Circle and Beyond
This is a short video documenting our 2014 adventure to Inuvik, NW Territory, Canada. After losing our camera equipment on the Dempster highway and much of our stored data, there wasn’t much left except a few shots we had taken with our phones. This video documents the highlights of what we salvaged and is a motivating reminder that we need to take this trip again!
The Dempster highway leaves from Dawson City, Yukon north to Inuvik. It is a 1,000-mile slog of mud and dirt with very little support or assistance available. The road is always treacherous on M/C and almost unrideable when wet. The sharp gravel eats tires.
Because of the vast open expanse of the Arctic tundra, you feel small and vulnerable. There is very little help available to you if you crash or break down, so you have to be prepared and self-reliant. Oh, and if that doesn’t send a chill down your spine, recognize that as a human, we are not the top of the food chain in that environment.
